Since its launch in December 2004, Magnetica has developed two very important strategic relationships:
These partnerships provide important complementary skills and have respectively provided the mechanism for Magnetica to develop and manufacture, and now sell, its products, to conduct R&D and generate a pipeline of new products.
Jastec provides know-how and expertise in the development, prototyping and manufacture of high-performance superconducting magnets, and superconducting wire production capability which is a critical component in MRI magnets. The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kobelco, a US$17 billion company based in Kobe, Japan. Jastec has a manufacturing factory at Kobelco’s R&D premises in Kobe, and a wire factory in Moji. The ability to produce superconducting wire is a significant advantage.
UQ’s Biomedical Engineering Group group provides an international track record in R&D supporting design of magnet, gradient and RF coils, including prior successful development and delivery of gradient and RF coils and Magnetica’s first product. This partnership provides advanced design and modelling skills underpinning Magnetica’s designs.
