Magnetica Limited is based in Queensland, Australia and was launched in 2005. The company has highly specialised skills and IP in relation to the design, development and commercialisation of superconducting magnet and magnet systems for the US$5 billion global human magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) market.
We are commercialising technology that arose from over 20 years of innovative research and development at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, using the world class infrastructure of the University's Centre for Magnetic Resonance (now known as the Centre for Advanced Imaging). The technology was moved into an existing company in 2004 and the company was restructured and renamed Magnetica in 2005 with the purpose of focusing wholly on developing its prime competencies - innovative and unique MRI products.
The company has strategic partnerships with the University of Queensland, which contracts its staff, know-how and significant infrastrucure to Magnetica, and with Japan Superconductor Technology, Inc (Jastec) which provides its factory, IP and know-how for magnet prototyping, early production runs and for manufacturing.
